Sunsetting my first portfolio
2024 has definitely brought a lot of new changes for me–new jobs, finishing up undergrad, and becoming an adult (after more than a decade in education). With that, I've decided to sunset my original portfolio, alexavndra.github.io, for this new one.
I created the original portfolio back in October 2022, during a brief homework break in my university's coffee shop (ironically creating more work for myself). I remember saving–and searching–multiple tutorials on creating a portfolio using the basic HTML, CSS, and Javascript; from W3Schools to GeeksForGeeks, I learned the structure of creating a portfolio, from doing a "one pager" with multiple anchors to creating a proper Navbar for multiple HTML pages. I even found a way to create "typing" and "fading" animations for the page titles. In that moment, I felt like a genius, venturing into web development territory as a Machine Learning major, and proudly displayed it on every resume I sent out to employers.
I continued to maintain progress on the portfolio up to June 2024, when I was having thoughts on completely wiping it and redoing the entire mainframe. Though following a simple, yet succinct, structure, I felt there needed to be a change; slated to graduate at the end of 2024, I needed to transition to a "style" that reflected who I've become in the two years after the original portfolio's inception–and this new portfolio the manifestation of that need.
Though the sunsetting of my original portfolio is a bittersweet feeling (a goodbye to my earlier university years), this move is more than exciting, as it signals a new chapter not only in my professional career, but in my life–and I'm excited for what's to come!
